Product FAQs
How do I choose the right bottom bracket for my bike?
To find bottom brackets that are compatible with your specific bike model, click here or use the search bar at the top (type in your bike's brand, model, year and the words "bottom bracket"). Next, select your bike's crankset type and choose your desired bottom bracket quality. Each bottom bracket should fit your frame and crank standard and meet or beat factory specs. No measuring, no guessing — spend less time working, and more time riding! If you don’t see a bottom bracket kit for your bike here, send us a message with your bike's details and we'll do our best to provide one.
How do I know if my bottom bracket needs replacing?
Listen for creaking, clicking, or grinding while pedaling—these are common signs of worn bearings in modern MTBs. Check for crank wobble by holding them and moving side-to-side, or feel for rough spinning without the chain. Replacing early keeps your ride smooth and prevents bigger issues, and our replacement kits make sourcing the correct bearings as easy as ever!
What are the different types of bottom brackets?
These days, you'll typically find that bottom bracket shells on frames are threaded types (like BSA) or press-fit (like PF92, BB30 or PF30) for lighter carbon setups. Bottom Brackets must also fit a specific crankset spindle standard (24mm, 30mm, DUB (29mm), GXP (22/24mm) etc.) Some of the most popular standards are SRAM DUB and Shimano Hollowtech II. We simplified things by offering the most compatible options for your specific bike model paired with your crank type here
How do I install my bottom bracket?
We recommend bottom brackets be replaced by a trained professional (hint: contact your local bike shop). For those who are experienced, we stock BB tools like sockets, wrenches and presses. Follow your bike manual, tool or part manufacturer's installation guide and torque to spec. For questions about tool compatibility, reach out to us via contact form and we'll get back to you promptly!
